Severe Thunderstorm Warning And Tornado Watch in Effect for Alexandria

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the City of Alexandria until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The line of storms approaching our area is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

Residents in the storm’s path are advised to move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows.

The City of Alexandria is also under a Tornado Watch until 2 a.m. on Thursday, January 31. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until late tonight, and a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 3 a.m. on Thursday, January 31.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect until 6 a.m. on Thursday, January 31. Strong winds could down tree limbs or cause power outages.

Residents are urged to monitor weather reports and to be prepared to act if severe weather warnings are issued.
